Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled February 5th and 6th for the ongoing hearing of the case against Ali Bello and others, filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges, identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/550/2022: FRN vs Ali Bello & others, were rescheduled to February 5th and 6th following the completion of the second witness’s testimony from the anti-graft agency, Edward Bananda.
After the proceedings on Thursday, Justice Omotosho announced the adjournment to February for Ali Bello’s lawyer to conduct cross-examination of the EFCC witness.
During Thursday’s proceedings, the prosecution, led by Rotimi Oyedepo SAN, continued the examination-in-chief of the second witness, Edward Bananda. He provided evidence on financial transactions related to the Kogi State Government and the Kogi State Government House Administration.
The witness detailed the inflow and outflow of the Government House Account, including cash withdrawals and transfers from the account. However, the evidence revealed no transfers to the defendants or any cash withdrawals by them.
The witness concluded his evidence in chief, leading to the adjournment of the case to February 5th and 6th, 2024, specifically for the continuation of the hearing through cross-examination.
