Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has criticized the way Cristiano Ronaldo’s tenure at Old Trafford concluded. Bailly termed Ronaldo’s departure as ‘regrettable,’ highlighting that the Portuguese captain, recognized as the best player globally, could have made valuable contributions to the team.
In an interview with The Athletic, Bailly expressed that Ronaldo deserved to feel valued and significant during his time at Manchester United.
Ronaldo’s contract with Man United was terminated following his criticism of manager Erik ten Hag, certain Red Devils players, and the club itself in an interview with Piers Morgan more than a year ago.
“Cristiano Ronaldo returned, the legend coming back. He was the best player in the world for me,” Bailly said.
“Even when he returned, Cristiano contributed a lot to the club and a player like Cristiano deserves to feel important.
“It’s a shame he left in the circumstances he did.”
