Udinese manager Gabriele Cioffi has announced that Maduka Okoye will mark his Serie A debut in the match against Bologna on Saturday (today).
The Zebras are set to face Bologna in their last game of 2023 at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Okoye, who moved to Udinese from Watford in the summer, has previously made a single appearance for the club in the Coppa Italia.
Cioffi is now ready to give the Nigerian international his first Serie A appearance.
“I am delighted to have Marco Silvestri here. He is a top goalkeeper who has been a backbone for the team,” Cioffi told reporters.
“His two stand-ins are also excellent. That is why I have decided to give Maduka Okoye a chance.
“It is a technical decision and I am not throwing anyone under the bus. The position of goalkeeper is the same as any other.”
Okoye was not included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Friday.
