Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State sealed the deal on Wednesday by signing the 2024 budget of N258,278,501,339.00 into law. He expressed confidence in the incoming administration’s ability to build upon the groundwork his administration had laid for development.
At the Executive Chambers in Government House, Lokoja, Bello signed the 2024 budget along with three other bills, highlighting his administration’s establishment of a robust foundation for continued progress. He stressed the importance of creating an environment conducive for the next government to secure funds for implementing the budget, ultimately benefiting the people of the state.
Termed the ‘Budget of Consolidation and Continuity for Inclusive Growth,’ the budget aims to propel Kogi’s development to new heights.
Bello lauded the lawmakers for swiftly passing the bill, assuring a smooth implementation process for the incoming administration. He particularly praised the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Umar Yusuf, for his unwavering dedication to the state’s growth, expressing confidence in the capable hands of Ahmed Usman Ododo and the promising future of the state.
Speaker Umar Yusuf, in presenting the 2024 budget for the governor’s approval, highlighted the Assembly’s thorough scrutiny and engagement with all ministries and departments to ensure the budget truly served the interests of the people.
Additionally, the House passed several other bills, including amendments to the Kogi State Local Government Law, the Kogi State Oil Producing Area Development Commission bill (KOSOPADEC), and the bill to revise the College of Nursing and Midwifery Obagende.
