Transfer: Aston Villa target January move for Iheanacho

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is reportedly eyeing a move for Kelechi Iheanacho once the transfer window reopens in January.

Iheanacho’s current contract with Sky Bet Championship club Leicester City is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2024. There are indications that the Nigerian striker might not extend his contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer if Leicester City fails to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

Football Insider reports that Aston Villa has identified Iheanacho, along with RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, as potential targets for recruitment.

The 27-year-old Iheanacho has displayed commendable form, securing six goals and two assists in 20 appearances for Leicester since their relegation from the Premier League last season. Despite missing the previous two games due to illness, he returned to the Foxes’ matchday squad for the recent away win against Birmingham City on Monday night.
