PHOTOS: Lai Mohammed, traditional rulers, others arrive Ogbomoso for Soun’s coronation

Former Information Minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed and a host of notable figures have arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, to witness the coronation ceremony of the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye.

As the second-largest city in the state, Ogbomoso is currently experiencing an influx of prominent individuals from across the country who are gathering for the installation of the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso.

Our correspondent, keeping a close eye on the proceedings, reports that the coronation and official presentation of the staff of office to the monarch are underway at the Ogbomoso Township Stadium.

Among the distinguished guests attending the event are former President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Adebayo Oyero, traditional rulers, influential business leaders, and religious figures from both within and outside the country.

Present at the ceremony are traditional leaders representing the five local government areas constituting the Ogbomoso geo-political zone, as well as natives and other residents of this historic city.

It’s worth noting that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the selection of Prince Afolabi Olaoye from the Olaoye Ruling House on September 2nd of this year.

The kingmakers of Ogbomoso, led by the Areago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Sobalaje Otolorin, conducted the installation of Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso at Abata on September 8th, 2023.
