FRSC issues warning to motorists

The Idiroko Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State issued a cautionary advisory to motorists traversing the Idiroko area, emphasizing the dangers of improper overtaking during the festive season.

Mr. Charles Daramola, the FRSC’s Idiroko Unit Commander, stressed the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and urged drivers to abstain from reckless overtaking to avert potential accidents.

“We are urging motorists to desist from dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol to prevent unnecessary loss of lives during the festive period.

“Also the FRSC enjoined them to refrain from using mobile phones while driving and reduce their speed because only the living can celebrate,” he said.

Daramola emphasized that compliance with road rules would significantly reduce mishaps during the yuletide period. He highlighted that road accidents during the festive season are often attributed to human error rather than any inherent malevolence in the “ember months.”

He earnestly advised against overloading vehicles, emphasizing its role in preventing unnecessary and avoidable accidents on the road. Additionally, Daramola urged truck owners to prioritize safety by installing speed limit devices and avoiding the use of expired tires, as these measures significantly contribute to preventing tragic accidents and loss of lives.
