During the November 2023 session of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), a total of 3,963 teachers did not meet the requirements and failed the examinations, as revealed by Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
The TRCN oversaw the conduct of these examinations, aimed at assessing teachers’ professional knowledge within the educational sector.
“A total of 15,753 sat the examination at 38 centers across the country.
“Out of this, we have 10,636 that passed which is about 72.9 percent and those that failed are 3,963,’’ he said.
Ajiboye also noted that some candidates were absent during the examination, while others had their results invalidated due to involvement in examination malpractices.
Assuring the commitment of the Council to enhancing the teaching profession in Nigeria, Ajiboye highlighted its ongoing efforts toward its improvement.
This includes maintaining standards and upholding the integrity of the profession through rigorous examinations like the PQE.
