The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara has mobilized 950 personnel for special patrol operations during the Christmas and New Year period.
Basambo Busari, the Kwara FRSC Public Education Officer, disclosed this in a statement released in Ilorin. The deployment includes 350 special marshals, 120 first responders, 40 patrol vehicles, two power bikes, four ambulances, four private tow trucks, and a 70-ton tow truck.
Busari highlighted that the surge in vehicular movement during the festivities necessitated these special operations to address potential traffic issues in the state.
Corps Commander Stephen Dawulung has strategically stationed personnel for traffic control in the Ilorin metropolis and major cities. He emphasized the importance of compliance with traffic regulations, urging against speeding, overloading, phone use while driving, and passenger manifest violations.
Additionally, Dawulung cautioned against driving vehicles with mechanical deficiencies, worn-out tires, or in poor condition. He stressed the significance of prioritizing life’s safety over financial gains and advised against night travels, encouraging drivers to take a 30-minute rest after every 4-hour drive.
