Police arrest suspected armed robbers, motorcycle thieves in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police have apprehended individuals suspected of being involved in armed robbery and motorcycle theft, causing fear in the state.

ASP Abubakar Isah, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, revealed this in an issued statement. He explained that the arrests were made during various operations conducted by the police and collaborating agencies.

Isah further stated that upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crimes. He assured that all apprehended individuals would undergo thorough investigation procedures and subsequently be presented in court for prosecution.

According to him, “police in Garki local government received report that on 05/12/2023 at about 0100hrs, a group of hoodlums numbering about eight, armed with dangerous weapons entered a house and robbed a person of the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira (₦1,500,000.00k), and also forced him to take them to his mother’s house where they collected the sum of five hundred and thirty thousand naira (₦530,000.00k) and two motorcycles.”

He explained that on receiving the report, detectives attached to the Garki Division swung into action and arrested five suspects, recovering the money and stolen motocycles.

The arrested suspects include Abdullahi Umar, Murtala Adamu, Najari Sha’ain’t, Dalaha Bashir and Nasiru Mayau.

“Two fabricated firearms, two motorcycles, one Infinix Android, and the sum of three hundred and three (₦303,000.00k) were recovered in their houses,” he added.
