A tragic incident occurred in the Ugborikoko Community of the Uvwie Local Government Area in Delta State, claiming the lives of a man and his girlfriend.
The couple had marked the girlfriend’s birthday with a celebration at a nightclub before their untimely demise in the early hours of Monday. Reports indicated that after leaving the club, they retired to the woman’s shop where they turned on a generator before settling in for the night.
Sadly, they passed away before dawn.
DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident during a phone conversation with a correspondent in Warri on Tuesday morning.
While some sympathizers expressed sorrow over the tragedy, condemning the couple for causing anguish to their families during this festive season, others speculated about the possibility of nefarious intentions by their adversaries.
