Nigeria Customs promotes 357 junior officers

The Nigeria Customs Service has sanctioned the promotion of 357 officers, elevating them from Customs Assistant 1 to Inspector of Customs.

Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Customs, revealed this information in a statement released on Saturday. He stated that the promotion was officially approved on December 1 during the 7th management meeting of 2023, presided over by the Customs Comptroller General, Bashir Adeniyi.

The Comptroller General emphasized to the newly promoted officers the importance of intensifying their commitment to fulfill the primary objective of revenue generation within the service.

According to the statement: “The comprehensive promotion list encompasses both the General Duty (GD) and Support Staff (SS) personnel who excelled in the 2023 promotion exercise.

“The breakdown of promoted officers is as follows: AIC to IC, 246 (GD); AIC to IC, 37 (SS); CA I to AIC, 39 (GD); CA I to AIC, 27 (SS); CA II to CA I, 7 (SS); and CA III to CA II, 1 (GD).

“This strategic advancement mirrors the visionary leadership of the Comptroller General, emphasising motivation, recognising excellence, and rewarding diligence within the service.

“In extending his heartfelt congratulations, the Comptroller General urges the newly promoted men to redouble their efforts in fulfilling the service’s core mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation.”
