Kaduna bandits drive locals out of ancestral homes for failing to pay tax

After a bandit raid struck Kidandan community in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area, many locals fled their homes. The attackers fired shots for hours, resulting in casualties among the residents and the abduction of several individuals.

Reports suggest the bandits grew hostile due to farmers not meeting levies previously imposed on them, escalating the violence.

This assault in Kidandan follows closely after an Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) bombing targeted Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area, adding to the recent unrest in the region.

According to a source: “For the past six days, bandits have been coming to Kidandan. These attacks were devastating. They came, terrified us, stole, and abducted our people. Every resident in Kidandan lives in extreme fear.”

He further explained that the women and children are leaving in droves, saying that a large number of those who embarked on the exodus are moving for safety.

The Kaduna State Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
