Intervene, release Rhoda – Christian women urge Tinubu’s wife

The Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State appealed to Oluremi Tinubu, the Wife of the President, to intervene and assist in securing the release of Rhoda Ya’u Jatau from prison in Bauchi State.

Evang. (Mrs.) J.E. Soolo conveyed this request on behalf of the association during a recent stakeholders workshop focused on preventing violence against women, girls, and persons with disabilities in Delta State.

“I want to use my voice to call the mother, Deaconess Tinubu to stand and plead for this case.

“She’s also a Christian mother. She should look into this case for our sister, Rhoda,” Soolo said.

While noting that there is freedom of speech in Nigeria, she argued that there was nothing bad with the videos Rhoda shared.

According to her, Rhoda was only lamenting over the manner the late Deborah Samuel was murdered.

She further pointed out that Rhoda only shared the videos on her personal platform and not in the public domain.

The evangelist expressed sadness that arrangements are being made to try Rhoda in line with the Sharia Law.

“We’re pleading as Christian women that they should let peace reign by releasing Rhoda to us and I want to use this opportunity to plead with these women fighting for violence against women and children and persons with disabilities.

“I want to raise my voice that they should look into this case and plead the cause of Rhoda for our sake.”
