State House to spend N253m on foodstuffs, electricity to gulp N260m

The 2024 Appropriation Bill by the Federal Government designates a sum of N460,217,071 for the State House’s “Materials and Supplies.”

A significant portion, totaling N253,277,638, is allocated for foodstuffs and catering materials. This category encompasses various items such as food supplies, stationery, newspapers, books, and more.

Contained within the Budget Office of the Federation’s document released on Wednesday, the allocation breakdown for the State House’s Materials and Supplies includes:

– Office stationeries/computer consumables: N66,719,333

– Books: N6,427,173

– Newspapers: N21,296,484

– Magazines & Periodicals: N3,379,524

– Printing of Non-Security Documents: N24,303,149

– Printing of Security Documents: N11,349,170

– Drugs & Medical Supplies: N63,882,198

– Uniforms & Other Clothing: N9,582,402

– Food Stuff/Catering Materials Supplies: N253,277,638

Additionally, the Federal Government earmarked N260.8 million for the electricity bill and allocated N50 million for internet access charges at the State House.

The budget details a Utilities allocation of N372 million, covering expenses such as electricity and internet access charges, alongside telephone charges at N4.4 million, water rates at N30 million, and sewerage charges at N26 million.

For fuel and lubricants, the budget allocates N217 million at the State House, specifying N148 million for motor vehicle fuel costs, N37 million for plant/generator fuel costs, and N31 million for cooking gas.
