The Ogun State Police Command is actively pursuing a patient from the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba Abeokuta, identified as Saba Elizabeth.
Reports indicate that Elizabeth absconded on Saturday, unable to settle her medical bills after receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment at the medical centre.
Elizabeth, admitted to the gynecology ward on November 11, 2023, and scheduled for discharge on November 16, 2023, was unable to leave due to financial constraints.
Faced with the inability to meet her medical bills, Elizabeth allegedly deceived hospital staff, claiming she intended to buy food from a nearby store but never returned.
As efforts to locate her proved futile, the Chief Security Officer of the medical centre, Akpoji Joshua, reported the incident to the Kemta Police Division on Sunday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed on Tuesday that the police in Kemta Division were actively assisting the hospital in finding the missing patient.
“We are investigating to unravel her whereabouts through her family members,” she simply stated.
