FA Cup third round: Liverpool draw Everton in third round

Liverpool is set to host Everton in the FA Cup’s third round, with Championship leaders Leeds United heading to Arsenal for their clash.

The defending champions, Manchester City, will welcome League Two team Port Vale, and Manchester United will visit Wolves in a rematch of last season’s quarter-final.

AFC Fylde, a National League side and the lowest-ranking team confirmed for the third round, will journey to face Premier League side Sheffield United.

These matches are scheduled to take place between January 3-6.

In a potential showdown, Boston from the sixth-tier National League North may host Premier League giants Newcastle United, provided they triumph in a replay against Rochdale on December 10.

Meanwhile, fellow non-league sides Hartlepool and Eastleigh are also vying for progression via replays. If successful, they could face Oxford United and Barnsley, respectively.

In the Premier League, Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are set to clash on Wednesday night, with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp holding a comfortable eight-point lead at the league’s summit, contrasting Everton’s position, sitting just two points above the relegation zone and facing mounting pressure on manager Marco Silva.
