In Jos, the capital of Plateau State, an area court handed a three-month prison sentence to David Longji, a 23-year-old student, for the theft of a solar panel.
Judge Mr. Shawomi Bokkos issued the sentence after Longji admitted to the theft, granting him the alternative of paying a fine of N20,000.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, the case was reported on October 16 at the Anglo-Jos Police Station by Livinus James, the complainant. Gokwat explained that the convict was apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen solar panel, which he took from a company.
The prosecutor highlighted that Longji’s actions violated the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code.
