On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly withdrew its appeal against Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Abuja-based appeal court.
Previously, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had issued a restraining order on September 26, preventing the Ondo State Governor, Chief Judge, House of Assembly, Speaker, and others from pursuing the planned impeachment of Aiyedatiwa pending the resolution of an ongoing motion for interlocutory injunctions.
However, on October 3, 2023, the Speaker and the National Assembly lodged an appeal.
During the proceedings, the applicant’s counsel, Remi Olatubora, SAN, informed the court that the involved parties had reached a political resolution to address the matter.
