Zamfara Gov charges residents to pray against lingering security challenges

On Sunday, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State urged residents to persistently seek divine intervention through fervent prayers to address the ongoing insecurity.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga, at the commencement of the state’s 27th Qur’anic recitation competition, Lawal addressed the recent abduction of over 100 villagers by bandits in Mutunji and three other communities within Maru Local Government Area.

Acknowledging the state government’s awareness of the mass abduction and the prevailing security challenges in rural areas, Lawal emphasized the importance of ongoing prayers as a response to the situation.

“The state government had recruited 4,200 Community Protection Guards, CPGs, to address the dastard acts in the State”, he added.

Recall that last Friday, a bandits’ kingpin, popularly known as Damina, attacked four villages under the Dansadau district and kidnapped over 100 residents.

The locals in the affected communities said their failure to pay harvesting levies to the bandits made them storm the four villages with motorcycles.
