NPFL issues practice direction to coaches, players

The NPFL has issued a directive urging clubs to clamp down on unprofessional behavior exhibited by their coaches and players during league matches. Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, communicated this in a memo distributed to all clubs.

The memo aims to tackle inappropriate behaviors that are tarnishing the league’s image and undermining the integrity of the sport. Owumi specifically highlighted concerns about coaches’ attire and players feigning injuries to delay matches, resulting in an incomplete experience for paying fans.

Owumi cautioned that NPFL regulations would be enforced to prevent any actions that negatively impact the league’s public perception, emphasizing the importance of upholding standards and professionalism.

The memo reads “Football broadcast requires intentional packaging from arrival of teams to the dressing rooms, to the field, bench and actual play.

“Let us join hands with our Broadcast Partners to make the league attractive to viewers at home and fans in the stadium.

“Appearing for matches in inappropriate apparels that portray the entire league in bad light, Football has been accepted as big business with entertainment value and this frequent disruptions rob the league games of entertainment spectacle. It does not encourage fans who have paid money and spent time to watch games.”
