Chira vows to revitalize AGF’s office, seeks support of Tarabans

The Auditor General of the Federation, Kanyitor Shaakaa Chira, is resolute in restoring the eminence of the Auditor General’s office despite recognizing its challenges.

Kanyitor pledged to cultivate collaborative work dynamics, fairness, diligence, and a unified focus devoid of biases.

This commitment was shared during his visit to Jalingo, Taraba State, on Friday, where he paid a courtesy call on Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas.

Accompanied by the Gara of Donga, His Majesty Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura, Gargbanyi II, and other dignitaries, Kanyitor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with this responsibility.

Acknowledging the complexities of his role, Kanyitor sought Governor Agbu Kefas’s support and constructive feedback in navigating the challenges ahead.

“While I acknowledge that the starting point of my job as Auditor-General of the Federation is not an easy one, I want to assure you, Your Excellency, that I am ready to confront all the challenges to make Taraba State proud,” stated Kanyitor.

He pledged to prioritize the clearance of audit reports for 2020, 2021, and 2022, showcasing his commitment to transparency and accountability.

Addressing the people of Taraba State, Kanyitor declared that though his primary constituency is Taraba, his larger constituency is now the entirety of Nigeria, vowing to discharge his duties without fear or favour, irrespective of the individuals involved.

While soliciting prayers from opinion leaders, women, and the entire Taraba community to ensure his success, he acknowledged the support received from stakeholders, including the Gara of Donga and the three Senators of the state during his screening at the green chamber.

In response, governor Kefas commended President Tinubu for appointing a Taraba native to such a crucial position.

Expressing confidence in the AGF’s abilities, the governor encouraged him to maintain a strong connection with his roots and to stay focused on his mission.

“I want to say that your appointment is a result of your hard work, and your hard work will continue to work for you. This should be a source of encouragement to other people, that anybody can make it through hard work regardless of where he comes from,” remarked Governor Kefas.

The governor pledged ongoing involvement of the AGF in state affairs and encouraged him to contribute both at the state and national levels, underscoring the potential for success through dedication and diligence.
