Renowned singer Davido has shared the profound impact of working on his record-breaking album, ‘Timeless,’ revealing that the creative process became a healing journey for him.
Released on March 31, 2023, ‘Timeless’ marked Davido’s return to the music scene after the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, on October 31, 2022. In an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1, Davido opened up about the therapeutic nature of creating the album amid personal challenges.
The artist disclosed that a significant portion of the album was recorded in his home, surrounded by his wife and her sisters, creating a serene atmosphere for the creative process. This intimate setting played a crucial role in offering Davido the space and calmness needed for reflection and artistic expression.
“I actually recorded most of the album in my house where I live with my wife. At the time, it was really only me, her, and her sisters, and I had one of my boys staying with me. It gave me time to really calm down. It was a healing process because I was happy to be making music. I was excited about it. I felt like an artiste that had just got a record deal.”
The album served as a form of solace for Davido, allowing him to channel his emotions and find joy in the process of creating music. The interview highlighted his emotional state during the recording, describing the experience as a rejuvenation of his artistic spirit.
Davido also shared insights into the extensive recording process, noting that he initially recorded a total of 28 songs for the album.
