IG gives 613 deceased officers’ families N2.2bn

On Thursday, Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun disbursed Settlement Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme benefits totaling N2.276,110,966.80 to 613 families of deceased police officers who passed away in active service.

The disbursement ceremony took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where the beneficiaries received the cheques.

It’s reported that the Life Assurance Scheme receives funding from the federal government, while the IGP Family Welfare Scheme is funded by the Nigeria Police Force itself.

Egbetokun urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds for the well-being of the families left behind by the departed officers. He emphasized that this gesture is a part of the NPF’s commitment to empathize with the families of deceased police officers and assist them in coping with their day-to-day challenges.
