Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur Engage in Battle for Wilfred Ndidi

Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi, currently with Championship side Leicester City, is rumored to be considering a significant transfer to Barcelona next summer, setting the stage for a potential bidding war with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from IWITNESSLIVE SPORTS.
Ndidi’s existing contract with Leicester extends until the end of the season, and the decision on its renewal is likely to hinge on Maresca’s ability to keep the team competitive for an immediate return to the Premier League.
The midfielder faced transfer speculation after Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League last season, but while several key players departed, Ndidi opted to stay with the Foxes.
In the current season, Ndidi has showcased his skills, making 15 appearances across various competitions, contributing three goals and four assists. His impactful performances have played a role in Leicester’s impressive run, placing them at the top of the table with 13 wins in their first 16 matches.

Barcelona’s financial crisis has been well documented and the La Liga giants are looking to sign the Super Eagles midfielder on a free transfer as it has been the club’s tradition in the last two seasons.

Under the Bosman ruling, Barcelona will be able to strike a contract agreement with Ndidi in January ahead of a free transfer next summer.

However, the Catalans are not the only side interested in the Nigerian after reports emerged that Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, has also shown keen interest in Ndidi.

According to a UK publication, teamtalk, Postecoglou does not consider Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg the right man for his system and is willing to bring Ndidi to the club when his contract expires next summer.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and Tottenham are not the only clubs monitoring the contract situation of the 26-year-old with reports suggesting that Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, who have all enquired about signing Ndidi over the summer, are still looking at the possibility of signing the player when he runs of contract.
