Tinubu seeks Senate approval of $7.8bn, $100m 2022-2024 borrowing plan

President Bola Tinubu has submitted a proposal to the Senate, seeking approval for a total of $7.8 billion and €100 million in the borrowing plan outlined for his administration for the years 2022 to 2024.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio presented Tinubu’s request in a letter on Wednesday during the session of the Red Chamber.

In addition to this, the President also revealed that the World Bank Group has expressed interest in providing financial support amounting to $1 billion and $2 billion to address the economic challenges and recent reforms in the country.

Tinubu has urged the Senate to expedite the consideration of this request. In response, Akpabio referred the proposal to the committees responsible for foreign affairs, finance, and national planning for further review and discussion.
