See video of policeman threatening to shoot motorist over bribe In Bayelsa

A video has emerged depicting a Nigeria Police Force officer engaged in a heated altercation with a road user in the Kaima area of Bayelsa State.

The footage captures the officer raising his voice and making threats to shoot the motorist unless he complies with his demands.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the police officer’s actions were allegedly driven by the driver’s refusal to pay a bribe while traveling on the highway. The source recounted, “The individual driving me had connections with the road safety personnel and had given money to one of them, which prompted the police officer to approach the car. He brandished a stick, seemingly intent on damaging the side mirror or headlamp, all while demanding that we pull over.”

“I approached the team leader, but he continued to threaten us, even declaring that ‘thunder would strike us.’ His behavior clearly indicated signs of inebriation. When they realized that the encounter was being recorded, they directed threats at the young women who were filming, pressuring them to delete the footage. I informed the team leader that we had the right to document the situation as we felt threatened.”

The source raised a pertinent question, “Who would entrust an assault rifle to individuals under the influence of alcohol?”
