The late American singer, Michael Jackson, widely recognized as the ‘King of Pop,’ has secured the title of the world’s highest-earning deceased celebrity for the year 2023.
Forbes magazine’s annual list for 2023, published on Tuesday, declared Michael Jackson as the top-earning deceased celebrity, amassing an estimated $115 million in earnings. This marks the first time Jackson has claimed this prestigious position in four years.
Following closely in second place is Jackson’s late father-in-law, Elvis Presley, with an estimated $100 million in earnings.
Among the noteworthy figures in the top 13 list of deceased celebrities are Bob Marley, Prince, John Lennon, and Whitney Houston, who have collectively garnered an approximate total of $470 million in the past year. This figure represents a 70% decrease from the earnings of the previous year.
The rankings were determined based on the pretax earnings generated from sales, licensing agreements, streaming royalties, and other sources of income spanning from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023.
