Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has issued a cautionary message to their rivals, Manchester United, asserting that the glory days they once savored under Sir Alex Ferguson will not be easily reclaimed.
Guardiola delivered this message in anticipation of the upcoming Derby at Old Trafford on Sunday. Last season, the Spaniard guided City to a historic Treble, matching the pinnacle of Ferguson’s illustrious reign.
During Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure at Manchester United, they clinched an impressive 13 Premier League titles and secured the Champions League trophy twice. When questioned whether success would ever return to the red side of Manchester, Guardiola, who has claimed five of the last six Premier League titles, offered his perspective.
He replied: “Maybe not in the way that Sir Alex Ferguson controlled in those days because at that moment I think there were only two or three teams.
“Now there are more clubs with a lot of incredible managers – so maybe not in that way.”
