Ekiti govt warns against blocking waterways, dumping refuse in drains, culverts

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, has issued a warning regarding the haphazard construction of structures along waterways and the improper disposal of waste in drains and culverts, which could exacerbate the recurring problem of flooding in the state’s capital, Ado Ekiti.

During a radio program discussing the State Government’s achievements over the past year, Olatunbosun emphasized that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji had invested substantial resources in dredging waterways and cleaning drains and culverts.

He stressed that the issue of flooding would persist until residents strictly adhere to the Urban and Physical Development Code and sanitation laws.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people and the rapid development of the state, Olatunbosun recalled that Oyebanji’s campaign promises were built upon six pillars, which have now become the cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda.

Among the administration’s accomplishments are the construction and reconstruction of roads in Ado Ekiti township, GRA 3rd Extension Ado-Ilawe, Ado-Iworoko, Igbara-Odo-Ikogosi, and Ilawe-Erijiyan. Furthermore, the administration has undertaken the drilling of motorized boreholes in various towns and the renovation of basic health centers.
