I prefer MLS to Saudi Pro League, says Osimhen

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, has expressed his preference for a transfer to the MLS rather than the Saudi Pro League. Osimhen has been in top form for the past two years, scoring 26 goals in the Serie A last season to help his team secure their first league victory in 33 years. He even broke George Weah and Samuel Eto’o’s goalscoring records in the Serie A. His performances at Napoli drew the attention of top clubs across Europe, but no concrete offers were made. Talks of a lucrative deal from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal did not materialize either.

Although the 24-year-old striker has since settled down at Napoli, he has recently revealed his preference for a transfer to the Major League Soccer in the USA. This is despite the recent influx of players from Europe to the Saudi League. Osimhen acknowledged the Saudis’ efforts to develop their league, and they have indeed attracted talented players, including Ronaldo. However, Osimhen still prefers the MLS, citing favorable conditions.

In a Twitch interview, Osimhen said, “They are trying to develop their league (Saudi Pro League), which is good. One of the greatest of all time [Ronaldo] has gone there. Because of his influence, they have attracted a lot of talented players to also go there. So, for me, it’s really good, they are trying to build their league into one of the best. For me, they are doing something amazing. If I had the same conditions, I would go to MLS.”

Despite his preference, a move to Saudi Arabia cannot be ruled out completely as the Saudis have used bumper wages to lure footballers to their league. With the right amount, Osimhen could still make the move.mount, Osimhen could still make the move.
