Borno, Niger Govts partner to achieve Green economy

The Governor of Borno state, Professor Babagana Zulum has on Tuesday assured that his state will partner with Niger state government to actualize green economy.

He said during his remarks at a two- day 1st Niger state Green Economy Summit held in Minna with the Theme; Sustainable Future: Harnessing Green Assets and Innovation for Niger State’s Prosperity,  that the partnership will project the two states in the northern part of Nigeria and the entire country.

He further urged the discussants to come up with appropriate recommendations for the good of the future generations.

In his remarks, the Governor of Niger State, Umar Bago said his administration remains committed to the enthronement of green economy in the country.

He added that the Summit will present a draft to stakeholders for their review and input, after which it would be formally launched and applied in the preparation of the appropriation proposals for 2024 and beyond.

In his words, “the blueprint is a comprehensive guide that detail our vision, objectives, strategies, and actions, designed to transform our state into a beacon of green prosperity that is environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and economically robust which spans across vital sectors like renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, agriculture, inclusivity, and tourism among others”.

The Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar challenged governments to ensure the sustainability and revamping of green economy.

He further applauded governors Bago and that of Borno state, Professor Babagana Zulum for harnessing the green environment for the betterment of the society.
