Late on Sunday evening, a group of terrorists launched an assault in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in the loss of five lives and leaving at least twelve others injured.
During the attack, five local residents were also forcibly taken by the assailants, who arrived in the town around 10 pm.
According to some of the local residents, the terrorists arrived in considerable numbers and began firing indiscriminately.
These residents, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that the initial attack occurred at the town’s outskirts, possibly due to the presence of security personnel and local vigilantes. However, the terrorists subsequently infiltrated the town and intensified their assault.
One of the residents disclosed, “The casualties would have been more if not for the efforts of the security operatives and the Vigilante.”
They said it was generally calm on Monday morning while security operatives and vigilantes were on patrol there.
Contacted the Spokesman for the state police command, Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development.
He said, “The incident occurred at 10 p.m. We have already commenced investigation while our men are on top of the situation there.”
