Dr. Mary Arinde, the Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, has urged parents and guardians to disregard speculations about increased tuition fees in the state’s tertiary institutions. During a meeting held on Friday, Arinde emphasized that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to reducing the financial burden on everyone, in response to the current economic challenges.
The Press Secretary in the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, reported that the commissioner affirmed that there will be no tuition fee increases in any of the state’s tertiary institutions.
Prof Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his visionary leadership in maintaining current school fees for the university’s students.
Jimoh added that the governor made the decision to ensure that the people of the state have access to qualitative education at the tertiary level.
He, however, urged the students to reciprocate the goodwill of the governor by conducting themselves peacefully and making optimal use of the opportunity of completing their courses at the institution.
In furtherance to this, the Provost, College of Education, Oro, Professor Mukaila Aremu also confirmed that the previous tuition fees for students in the three Colleges of Education in the state, remains the same adding that there is no plan whatsoever for any increment as purportedly being circulated among the general public.
