The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two individuals in the Shabewa community of Dukku Local Government Area by criminals. In a conversation with our correspondent, the state police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, assured that the police, in collaboration with the local vigilante group, would work towards their swift release.
ASP Abubakar further revealed that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, has deployed law enforcement personnel to ensure the safe and prompt release of the two victims, whose identities have not yet been disclosed.
It’s worth noting that in September, the command had reported that at least 67 individuals were declared missing in the state between January and September 2023.
Abubakar said, “We have confirmed the abduction of a male and a female from the Shabewa community of Dukku Local Government Area.
“The Commissioner of Police has deployed an operational team to work alongside the vigilante group to rescue the victims unhurt. They are presently in the bush in chase of the criminals.”
