Over 90 Kenyan schoolgirls hit by strange illness

A Kenyan school has witnessed an alarming health incident where approximately 90 schoolgirls have fallen ill, experiencing difficulty in walking, according to a report by BBC on Wednesday.

Health authorities in Kenya have launched an investigation into this health crisis, as the affected students have been admitted to hospitals. These female students, who attend Eregi Girls High School in the western region of the country, have also displayed symptoms of knee pain.

A regional director of education, Jared Obiero, said that “the education department, the county government and public health department are giving a commitment that the children will be treated.”

On Tuesday, a high-ranking official from the Ministry of Education in the country visited the school and provided assurance to concerned parents that the situation was being managed effectively. He indicated that regular classes would proceed as usual for the remaining students.

Reports suggest that samples of blood, stool, and urine from the affected students have been sent to laboratories in a nearby city, Nairobi, the nation’s capital. The results of these tests are anticipated later today.
