Silva Expresses Confidence in Iwobi's Success at Fulham

After Alex Iwobi’s stellar performance in Fulham’s EFL Cup third-round clash against Norwich City, where he contributed an assist and a goal on his debut start, Fulham’s manager, Marco Silva, has expressed his confidence in the Nigeria international’s ability to excel at Craven Cottage. Iwobi’s goal, a result of an impressive team move in the second half, came after Carlos Vinicius’ opener in the first half, securing a 2-1 victory for Fulham and propelling them to the Carabao Cup fourth round. This goal marked Iwobi’s first for Fulham since his transfer from Everton during the summer, where he had previously earned the prestigious Players’ Player of The Year award.

Silva, who lured Iwobi away from Arsenal to join Everton back in 2019 during his time at Everton, expressed confidence in the player’s potential to shine at Craven Cottage.

“He’s a player that I know can add for us in many different positions,” Silva stated, as per London News Online, emphasising his familiarity with Iwobi’s abilities.

“I know him really well; I was responsible for signing him at Everton. His quality and his energy are going to be important for us.”

While Iwobi had contributed to 40 goals in 149 appearances during his time with Arsenal, his performance at Everton was modest, with only nine goals and 16 assists in 140 games across all competitions.
