The Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition brought before it by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, on the grounds of lacking merit. The petition challenged the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwor.
In a judgment delivered by the three-member tribunal panel led by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu, it affirmed Governor Oborevwor as the rightful winner of the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023, in the state.
The tribunal stated that the petitioners failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and corrupt practices, beyond a reasonable doubt.
