Edo Triumphs with Gold, Bronze Medals in Cycling at NYG

In a remarkable display of talent and determination at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Team Edo excelled in the cycling competition on Sunday, clinching both the coveted gold and a well-deserved bronze medal.

These outstanding achievements were accomplished during the fiercely contested 40 km road race cycling event within the female category. Rising star Divine Ogbe showcased her prowess, triumphing over formidable competitor Atanda Damola Hikmat from Kwara to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile, her teammate Osaretin Godwin demonstrated exceptional skill and determination to secure the bronze.

An emotional Ogbe expressed her heartfelt dedication to this victory to her teammate Godwin and the unwavering support of her coaches.

“I thought I was not going to make it. I want to say thank you to my teammate, Osaretin, and our coaches. The contest was not easy,” She said.

In the handball event, Edo beat Plateau 21-15 in their first match to advance to the quarter-finals.
