Nigeria’s national team coach, Jose Peseiro, has shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen’s decision to remain with Napoli, despite strong interest from several top clubs during the summer transfer window.
Peseiro expressed his satisfaction with Osimhen’s choice to continue at Napoli for the upcoming season.
Notably, Napoli had a remarkable 2022/23 season, securing the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades. Osimhen’s exceptional performances captured the attention of prominent clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite receiving tempting offers from European giants, Osimhen opted to stay loyal to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Peseiro emphasized that Osimhen’s decision to remain with Napoli is a positive development for Nigeria
“But Victor is very happy in Napoli. For his growth path, staying in Europe and showing off in the Champions League remains the best way. He is young and has time to prove his talent,” Peseiro told Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Then I understand that in the face of certain offers, one can waver: two seasons in Arabia are worth more than ten in Europe, but money is not everything. Victor has improved a lot in Italy.”
