Four dead in rampaging cult groups clash in Ogun

In the late hours of Sunday, an unidentified group of suspected cultists carried out an attack in the Ijagba Sagamu area of Ogun State, resulting in the tragic death of at least four individuals in a clash believed to be related to cult activities.

Multiple eyewitnesses reported that the group opened fire, resulting in the shooting of two individuals when they invaded Ijagba Street, which is located near a mosque in the community.

The victims of this attack were subsequently identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an as-yet-unidentified woman, both of whom suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

One eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous when speaking to PUNCH Metro, claimed that the son of the deceased woman, who had been shot in the head, prevented the police from transporting her body to the hospital.

According to a source within the state police command, empty cartridge casings were discovered at the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, as a police team led by the Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, worked to restore peace in the area, another clash erupted in which two alleged members of the Aiye confraternity shot and killed two other individuals.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Monday, noting that at least two arrests had been made. She also stated that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, was present at the scene to assess the situation.
