Singer Fireboy DML, has spoken out against the coercive effects of sex, money, and fame.
During a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, he discussed this viewpoint.
The trio, the singer emphasized, are “manipulative,” capable of damaging people’s psyche, and can cause them to make “costly mistakes.”
According to him, celebrity, like money and sex, may affect your decisions, encourage you to take actions that you wouldn’t ordinarily take, give you a false sense of invincibility, and cause terrible errors.
“Fame is a fucked up spirit. It’s like money, it’s like sex. Those three things can fuck you up mentally, They can affect your thoughts. They can manipulate you into doing and I do not want to make costly mistakes,” he said.
He further explained that mistakes made by famous people were always on display for everyone to see and difficult to fix, unlike those made by regular people.
“And when you are famous and you make mistakes, everyone will see you,” he said.
“It’s not like when you are a normal person that you can quickly correct them. Omo, there are some mistakes that are very costly and I do not want to make costly mistakes,” he added.
His thoughts come against the backdrop of the many controversies most celebrities have been embroiled in. These controversies range from drugs to baby mama drama, and infidelity, among others.
