The Edo State Police Command detained a 31-year-old man identified as Osayande Efosa for reportedly giving his ex-girlfriend’s naked image to her suitor.
The culprit was apprehended on August 27 in Benin City by the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime section following a distress call from one Ogechi Nwokolo.
According to Muhammed Dankwara, the state Police Commissioner, the victim, Ogechi Nwokolo, stated to the police that his ex-boyfriend transmitted her nude images to a man who claimed to be planning to marry her.
According to him, the victim also stated that the suspect threatened to murder her if she reported the incident to anybody including the police.
He said the suspect had made a confession and would be charged to court soon.
The suspect told journalists that he had been dating the woman for more than a year and that he promised to marry her but she decided to marry the other man.
He said, “That means she has been cheating on me but I didn’t send the picture to blackmail her.”
