In Bayer Leverkusen’s latest match against Darmstadt 98 on Saturday, their recent signing, Victor Boniface, showcased his talent by scoring two goals for the second consecutive week. This outstanding performance contributed to Bayer Leverkusen’s convincing 5-1 victory.
With this result, Bayer Leverkusen has now secured three consecutive wins in the league, marking a perfect start to their Bundesliga campaign.
Victor Boniface, a 22-year-old Nigerian, had previously scored a brace in the previous week’s triumph over Borussia Moenchengladbach and also found the net in the German Cup. Despite only joining the team a month ago from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, Boniface has quickly adapted and made a significant impact.
His first goal of the match came with a remarkable solo run and a clever chip finish in the 21st minute, during which he maneuvered past three defenders. Although Darmstadt briefly leveled the score with Oscar Vilhelmsson’s close-range header, Xabi Alonso’s team reclaimed the lead just four minutes into the second half thanks to Exequiel Palacios.
Boniface then completed his brace, slipping into the box and skillfully flicking the ball past the goalkeeper from a tight angle following a swift passing sequence. Jonas Hofmann extended the lead further with a powerful 20-meter strike, essentially sealing the victory and extinguishing any hopes of a Darmstadt comeback.
In the closing stages, substitute Adam Hlozek added another goal to secure all three points for Bayer Leverkusen, maintaining their flawless record of nine points from three matches.
