Ogun Assembly summons Accountant-General, JAAC members

On Thursday, the Ogun State House of Assembly issued a summons to the state’s Accountant-General and all members of the Joint Account Allocations Committee. This summons pertains to the ongoing concerns surrounding the allocation of funds to local governments within the state.

During the legislative session on the same day, Speaker Olakunle Oluomo instructed the aforementioned individuals to attend a session scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.

Oluomo emphasized that the purpose behind this invitation is to ensure a comprehensive elucidation of the current developments within the local governments. This transparency is deemed crucial to keeping the citizens of the state well-informed.

He further expressed that the forthcoming meeting will provide the House of Assembly with insights into the situation, enabling them to subsequently undertake any necessary measures.

“We have the power to investigate what’s happening in our state and then do the needful.

“But I want to appeal to those that are concerned to please let’s maintain law, peace, and order in our various places, particularly in Ijebu East local government where I heard that protests are going on.

“Everyone should calm down and allow us to do our job.

“I hereby invite the Accountant-General of the state and all members of the Joint Account Allocations Committee to appear before the House on Friday by 1 p.m.

“They are to come and explain to the House what exactly is happening so that the people of the state shall be fully briefed,” he said.
