Kano Hisbah (Sharia police) has officially confirmed its provision of a collection of furniture, food items, and clothing materials to 1,800 couples for ₦1,800 each as part of its mass wedding initiative.
The Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, disclosed this while inspecting the acquired items for the upcoming mass wedding. He revealed that the state government has allocated over ₦800 million for the procurement of furniture, clothing materials, food items, and even bride prices, among other necessities.
Elaborating further, Aminu shared that each bride would receive a complete set of bed and bedding, along with ₦20,000 to support the launch of a business venture. Additionally, he mentioned that philanthropists and affluent individuals have pledged their contributions to ensure the success of this extensive marriage initiative.
The Commander-General emphasized that this gesture aims to benefit not less than 1,800 couples, addressing societal challenges and poverty prevalent in the community. He highlighted that financial constraints often result in postponed marriages, a hurdle that this endeavor seeks to overcome.
Assuring timely communication, Aminu pledged to share the mass wedding’s date and location once the arrangements are finalized. He appealed to philanthropists to aid in achieving these desired objectives.
Furthermore, he explained that specific criteria have been established for the selection of beneficiaries. Aminu cautioned that individuals who divorce their partners following the mass wedding would be obligated to reimburse the state government for the received items.
To ensure the seamless execution of the mass wedding, he called upon affluent individuals to collaborate with the state government in assisting the less privileged within the society. This collaborative effort is intended to facilitate the harmonious coexistence of individuals through the celebration of marital unions.
