On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) demolished a multimillion-naira duplex located on plot 226 in Wuse Zone 6, as it was built on unapproved land, a move which is in accordance with the threat issued by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The Director of the Department of Development Control, Mr Mukhtar Galadima, who confirmed this stated that the building was constructed illegally despite warnings, and his team conducted a thorough investigation to determine the plot’s original owner due to conflicting claims made by different parties.
He stated that after conducting an investigation, it was discovered that the developer did not have ownership of the land. As a result, the building had to be taken down. The FCT Administration will not take into account any developer’s status if they have violated rules and regulations regarding development.
Galadima said: “We demolished the duplex because somebody built it on someone else’s land without valid title and building plan approval.”
“We allowed the building to this stage before demolishing it because we had to follow all due processes,” he said as quoted by NAN.
