Electricity consumers in Bokkos Local Government Area and the Southern Plateau region are on the brink of relief as the Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, recently conducted a facilities inspection in the area.
The Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Maren Ishaku, and the Minority Chief Whip, Gabriel Dewan, initiated the visit to Bokkos.
Their objective was to explore the feasibility of extending the electricity supply to Plateau State University and its surrounding vicinity.
As stated in a communication issued from Jos by Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, the Head of Corporate Communications, Engr. Mohammed promptly instructed the deployment of a skilled team of technical experts to the region. Their aim is to ensure the establishment of consistent and dependable electricity services for the community.
“The two of them here—the Majority Leader and the Minority Leader are products of this university and are therefore great ambassadors of the ivory tower. I am proud to be associated with them and the university. We hope to partner for the common good of our people “, he said.
Engr. Mohammed’s visit commenced with an assessment of the necessary tasks at Plateau State University. He praised the Vice Chancellor of the institution for contributing to the nation’s human resource needs.
Furthermore, the CEO encouraged the local populace to safeguard all electrical installations within their area and emphasized the importance of paying for the electricity they consume once the supply is extended to them.
In response to the visit from the Electricity outfit’s CEO, the Vice Chancellor, represented by Associate Professor Jurji Gomos, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), expressed gratitude for the gesture. He thanked the two House of Assembly leaders and the Managing Director for addressing one of the major challenges confronting the university.
Maren Ishaku, the Majority Leader, remarked that he and his colleague, Gabriel Dewan, invited the Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc to witness firsthand the struggles faced by his constituency regarding electricity supply. Their aim is to explore ways to alleviate these challenges.
