Subsidy: Badagry LCDA donates palliatives to residents

The Chairman of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Joseph Gbenu on Thursday distributed no fewer than  7,000  food packs  to residents to  help cushion the effects of subsidy removal on petrol .

Speaking shortly after the distribution of the packs in Apa and Kankon areas of the town, Gbenu  said he decided to take the food packs to benefitting  residents in their  areas  because some of the beneficiaries are old and fragile.

He said that he had already visited no fewer  than 359 communities in Asipha and Seme areas and that no fewer than  3,000 food items and some money were given to residents.

“We are going round different communities in Badagry-West LCDA, to give the old and vulnerable some food items and cash in order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on petrol.

“I am a grassroots person and I believe that the best I could do is to visit my people in  their domains and give them the token and food items instead of gathering them at the council.

“The food items in each pack include Semovita, rice, beans and garri.

“We also have  N5,000  cash for each beneficiary  for their transport and to enable them to buy other things with the food items.
