Nottingham Forest gaffer, Steve Cooper said Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi is nowhere near his full fitness despite scoring in their opening day 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
Fielding questions from reporters ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Sheffield United, Cooper did not however mention if the Nigerian will be starting from the bench or not.
”Both (Awoniyi and Niakhite) have had minutes in different ways and forms. Last week Taiwo came on at Arsenal, which was a slight risk because he hadn’t done much training but obviously, when the game is going on, and you’ve got an opportunity to do something like that, you take it.
Awoniyi passed a late fitness test to be included in the matchday squad for last weekend’s away trip to Arsenal
The Nigeria international came off the bench to score in the 2-1 defeat to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
